TRUMAN ATHLETIC TRAINING EDUCATION PROGRAM |
![]() |
The Truman State University Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) encourages all participants to maintain optimal physical and mental health. The ATEP does not discriminate against any physical or mental impairments or illnesses. Those who are capable of performing the competencies outlined in the (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education) CAATE Standards and Guidelines are permitted participation in the program regardless of their health condition. Students with temporary illness, physical and /or mental impairments are allowed a leave of absence for recovery and are encouraged to seek assistance from Student Health Services and or University Counseling Services. Students with health problems which may put others at risk, such as infectious disease, will be asked to refrain from contact with others until appropriate measures can be implemented to protect the health of students and staff or such risk is no longer present.
The following steps are intended to resolve an apparently unresolvable problem that has occurred within the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP). Any
athletic training student who wishes to bring forth a grievance relative to the decisions made or operations or philosophies of the ATEP should follow the following
steps:
1. The first option to solving a grievance is to directly address the person(s) or situation(s) causing the grievance.
2. If the problem is not satisfactorily solved, a written description of the problem and the attempts to resolve the problem will be presented to the administrators of the ATEP according to the following chain of command:
a. Course or Clinical Instructor
b. Director of the ATEP
c. Exercise Science Department Chairperson
d. Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Education
e. Vice President for Academic Affairs
