Clint Thompson

Emeritus Instructor Clint Thompson retired as Truman’s Head Athletic
trainer and Health and Exercise Sciences Instructor in July, 2001. Prior
to his Truman tenure he received a BS in PE at the University of Texas
in 1963 and an MA in PE at Michigan State in 1969. He served as an
assistant Athletic Trainer at Michigan State University (1964-70), Head Athletic Trainer and Physical Education Instructor at Colorado State
University (1970-73) and Coordinator of Athletic Training/Rehabilitation as well as a Physical Education Instructor at Michigan State University
(1973-85). Clint also served four years as a clinical instructor for the
Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.

He was inducted into the Michigan Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Mid America Athletic Trainer Society Hall of Fame in 2000. He has served on the Journal of the National Athletic Trainer Association committee for 33 years, 15 years as Editor. Spending 28 years teaching beginning and advanced athletic training classes at the undergraduate and graduate level he helped bring national accreditation to the Truman State University Health and Exercise Sciences Department.

In retirement, Clint followed his Athletic Trainer wife to Seattle, WA
in 2001, as she took a position as assistant athletic trainer for the
University of Washington. His involvement with Athletic Training remains as he is active on the NATA Board of Certification, the Research and Education Foundation, the Journal of the NATA and the World Federation of Athletic Training and Therapy.
